Bed and Breakfasts - Romantic and Relaxing

Thankfully the days are long gone when staying at a bed and breakfast entailed sleeping in someone’s spare room with basic amenities (possibly including a tired shag carpet) and a shared bathroom “down the hall”. Hardly romantic! In fact, the change is so pronounced that smaller boutique hotels are now incorporating some of the successful qualities of bed and breakfasts into their renovations. The bywords of good quality B&Bs are perfect for those seeking a romantic retreat: intimacy, cosiness, high quality surroundings and a relaxed quiet friendly atmosphere. According to the Travel Industry of America, over 42 million people in the USA had at least one trip last year for occasions such as a honeymoon or anniversary. This is a market to which bed and breakfasts have responded. Many are in attractive older homes which ooze charm, furnished by antiques set in lovely décor. You can lazily luxuriate in fine linens on a comfortable bed, soak in a two-person bubbling whirlpool bat...

Exotic Georgia Roadkill

Are we still living in Georgia, or has our state somehow changed into Brazil or Mexico? I mean it, I’m genuinely starting to wonder, and I‘ll tell y‘all why. Just this past weekend I made a trip over to Jekyll Island because I had a little business to attend to there. Thusly, I slipped away from work Thursday afternoon and started the drive down. I was feeling loose and relaxed, George Thorogood and the Destroyers were singing “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” on the radio, and I was eating cashews and washin’ em down with a Diet Mountain Dew - my two favorite road trip food items. Life was goin’ pretty good until I got just outside of McCrae, and that’s when I saw it...... “It” was an armadillo. A real armadillo, the only thing of note was that it was a very dead armadillo, an armadillo who appeared to have lost a bout with a car. Needless to say, my appetite for cashews went south as I gazed upon this very mashed armadillo. Frankly, it took me a good three or four miles until ...

The smell of the ele...

Do You Make These Air Travel Mistakes?

You're sitting at home thinking about tomorrow's plane journey. Remember last time ? Remember how you felt when you arrived ? Aggravated, stressed, hot, tired, needing a couple of days to recover ? Did you make these mistakes ?  * Packed your luggage just before you left home.  Don't pack your bags a half hour before leaving. You know those vital papers, that book you wanted to read, or even your passport will mysteriously disappear at the last minute. Always pack the night before, and you'll find everything right there waiting !  * Arrived at the airport late.  There's no worse way to start your journey than sitting in traffic a couple of miles from the airport, watching the minutes tick by. Leave early. Expect a lot of traffic and your journey will take extra time. Then you'll arrive at the airport relaxed and near the front of the check-in line. If you get your first choice of seat you'll feel even better !  * Didn't prepare for the plane journey....

Ever wondered how so many ordinary people like you and me are able to travel the world 3 times over? And these people live amongst us. What I am about to share with you are real examples how people have made world travel highly affordable. Things that you can you personally do by yourself. And I am pretty sure you will not be able to sleep tonight once you realize how easy this magic formula works. It’s no rocket science. It’s something you can do today. To travel you need to save enough of cash. Period. But with the current inflation and rising energy costs, it is almost impossible for ordinary folks like us to even save a penny. What more a thousand dollars. Fortunately, there is always a solution. The solution I am proposing would be one that will counter the rising energy costs - both for electricity and gas. Desert Inn Makes Room For "Encore at Wynn Las Vegas"

The towers of the legendary Desert Inn in Las Vegas (nine-story each) were imploded on November 17, 2004, in order to make room for a new construction in the "Wynn Las Vegas" project, initially planned to span over 20 acres of land. Nostalgically described as "another chapter in Las Vegas' history that is being closed beneath a cloud of dust" by Las Vegas Review Journal, the name of Desert Inn stands now by the side of other famous & former Las Vegas resorts like The Dunes, Hacienda or Sands. Entitled "Encore at Wynn Las Vegas", the new 61 story hotel tower will feature at least 1,500 suites and full-resort amenities such as a casino area, restaurants, a spa, swimming pools, retail and conventional space. "Encore at Wynn Las Vegas" is expected to open in 2007. Steady plans for the Wynn Las Vegas grand opening By that time, there are other major events to tick off on Steve Wynn's agenda (the man behind the whole project). The original...

Denmark – Copenhagen, Helsingor and Beverages

Denmark is one of the hippest countries in Europe. Copenhagen is the center of activity with a lively evening scene, palaces and castles.  If you’ve traveled to Denmark, you’ll understand when I immediately bring up the subject of bars. The Danish like to toss back a few when time permits. Time seems to permit a lot and a few beers often become many. To this end, going out for a night on the town with friendly Danes can be dangerous in the summer. Due to its location on old mother earth, it doesn’t get dark in Denmark until elevenish during the summer. This can be difficult to adjust to, particularly when you look down at your watch and realize it is four in the morning. And the sun is coming up! Ah, but Denmark is not all socializing.  Copenhagen Copenhagen is one of those cities that is large, but feels small. I think this vibe arises from the fact there are a lot of walking only areas. Even in the center of the city, the streets are arranged like those in a neighborho...
